When a child faces a life-threatening illness or intense medical care, families usually have a hard time, not only with fear of the child, but also with practical challenges, such as long-term hospital stays, travel costs, and the ability to stay close to the child. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Houston (RMHC Greater Houston) is a crucial local resource for families in need. offering them stability, comfort, and support during one of the hardest times in their lives.

RMHC is globally recognized and known for providing temporary housing near major hospitals. For families whose children are receiving treatment at hospitals such as Texas Children’s Hospital, MD Anderson Children’s Center, or Children’s Memorial Hermann, RMHC offers a safe space where families can stay, usually only minutes away from where the child is being cared for.
Rather than feeling like a shelter, RMHC is intentionally designed to feel like home. Families have access to private bedrooms, kitchens, laundry facilities, play spaces, and quiet spaces for relaxation. These comforts help reduce stress and allow families to focus on what matters most: supporting and caring for their child.
RMHC relies heavily on community support to stay true to its mission. Volunteers prepare meals, support family activities, and maintain welcome spaces, while donors contribute food, supplies, and financial support.
So how can you help?
You can help by volunteering your time, donating meals or essentials, or contributing financially, as even a donation as little as $1 can truly make a difference in someone’s life. Click on the link to see ways to give and how to donate: https://rmhchouston.org/ways-to-give/
