FAQs about Project H.O.M.E.
Every single one of our group members has noticed the increase in homelessness and the usage of shelters in Houston recently, especially during the 2025 Federal Government Shutdown. We chose this topic to spread awareness about our project and this issue, as we have found that community outreach and awareness are the most likely ways that people will donate to missions and shelters, or even projects like ours!
Everyone deserves a home, food, water, and clothing, regardless of income level. Although we may not be able to give everyone what they need, we can take a step. And when a community takes a step together, they create a lasting impact. So donate to your local shelter or mission today!
You can donate to us cash or Apple Cash at our next event! Make sure to check out our Instagram to see when that is (@the.project.home)! Donations will be partially used for our project and given to missions such as the Star of Hope Mission or Communities in Schools Houston! Thank you so much! Any donations are appreciated!
At the beginning of this project, we just wanted to ask for donations and donate to places in need. While that is crucial, we shifted in focus to community outreach and raising awareness, as we have found through surveys that the more people are informed of this issue, the more likely they are to help out, while still heavily keeping the donation and volunteering aspect in our project!
Being middle school students, one of the main problems was communication and time management. With every member having after-school clubs and activities, we had to find certain times, days, and ways to meet up and work on this project. We resolved this by assigning personal roles (listed in About page), and we called over Zoom and had monthly meetings at libraries.
Our project, Project H.O.M.E. is student-led, and we come from Pearland Junior High West. PJHW has a plethora of clubs, including Future Problem Solvers. FPS challenges critical thinkers, and Community Problem Solving is one of the categories.
