Over 40% of people in Houston face food insecurity, which is 2 out of every 5 households. One of the largest organizations in Houston that is working to address this problem is the Houston Food Bank. The Houston Food Bank is one of the largest food banks in America, and its mission is simple: to lead in the fight against hunger. Houston Food Bank connects with a multitude of pantries, shelters, and community centers.
So who can get help?
Houston Food Bank assists and serves: families experiencing financial issues, unemployed individuals, seniors with low incomes, and children and students who are in need of nutritious meals.
What food does HFB (Houston Food Bank) provide?
HFB provides fresh fruits, vegetables, canned goods, bread, rice, pasta, grains, and dairy and protein items. HFB’s goal is to not only provide food, but also support healthy, balanced meals.

How can you help?
HFB relies heavily on the community. By donating non-perishable items to your local Kroger or HEB’s Red Barrel, volunteering at the HFB, or even organizing a local food drive and donating the proceeds to HFB, you can help make a true difference in people’s lives.
Why does this matter to Project H.O.M.E.?
Our mission for Project H.O.M.E. is to help others meet essentials (H.O.M.E.). By highlighting local food banks like Houston Food Bank, we can raise awareness on the issue of food insecurity, and hopefully encourage our community to help us take action.
